The Student Publication Assocaition and National Student Pride are pleased to announce that they are partnering up to bring student publications across the country coverage of Student Pride 2017.
The aim of the partnership is to get more students involved in the London-based event that takes place in February. In an exclusive partnership, SPA members will be invited to cover the event, giving them access to cover the biggest LGBTI+ event for students, produce exclusive content and gain incredible contacts.
Jamie Wareham, Student Pride’s Director of Comms, said “As a graduate who got heavily involved with my student media, it’s very exciting to see a whole swathe of student publications showing their commitment to National Student Pride.
“That’s exactly what on campus media should be about, championing the stories of students and enabling their voices. Volunteering with National Student Pride has been a great way to hone my writing and multimedia journalism skills and I’m really pleased we’re extending that reach to the over 100 number of campus’ the SPA has publications with!”
Student Publications will have access to exclusive content from the event and interviews with it’s panelists and guests. Last year’s fun addition of an LGBT+ Youtuber panel is being brought back again in 2017, something we’re excited to announce!
Dan Seamarks, Chair of the Student Publication Association, said: “We’re really excited to be partnering with National Student Pride, offering aspiring journalists the opportunity to cover some truly inspiring stories.
“Student media is the center of giving a voice to everyone on campus and this partnership will spread the messages of Student Pride further into universities. We can’t wait for the event!”
The event began started at Oxford Brookes University in 2005, as a response to the Christian Union’s “Homosexuality and the Bible” talk.
The 2017 event continues to be hosted at Student Pride’s friend the University of Westminster.
